Some defects and improvement methods of hard foam processed products

The foam collapses in whole or in part

(1) The rate of gas generation is too fast: reduce the amount of amine catalyst.

(2) The gel rate is too slow: the amount of gel catalyst is too small or invalid; increase the amount of gel catalyst or change the catalyst.

(3) The amount of foam stabilizer is too small: increase the amount or replace it.

 

Bubble shrink

(1) Improper ratio of polyol and isocyanate: adjust the formula to reduce the amount of polyol; check whether the flow rate of A and B is accurate

(2), the capacity is too low: reduce the amount of blowing agent.

(3) The filling amount is too small: increase the filling amount.

(4), produce "extensible" foam: increase the amount of blowing agent.

(5) The gel speed is too slow: increase the amount of gel catalyst.

(6). The functionality of polyol is too low or the hydroxyl value is too low: change the variety of polyol.

 

The foam is too large and uneven

Check whether the foam stabilizer fails or increase its dosage.

 

Uneven foam

Manual pouring: uneven mixing: prolong the stirring time or increase the stirring speed or intensity.

Mechanical pouring: The foaming speed is too fast, the annual increase is too early; reduce the amount of catalyst; the mixing effect of the mixing head is not good: clean the mixing head or improve the structure of the mixing head.

 

Other defects

1. There are patterns on the surface of the foam product: the mold is not clean; the mold temperature is uneven; the materials are not stirred evenly.

2. Poor foam adhesion; isocyanate is too high; check the flow rate ratio of A and B; surface pollution; mold temperature is too low; too high water content is not enough (increasing the filling amount or increasing the proportion of blowing agent);

3. Deformation of foam products: the mold temperature is too high; the mold pressure is too high (reducing the amount of material or reducing the proportion of blowing agent); the demolding time is too short.

4. The surface of the foam molded product is too thick (increasing the mold temperature) or too thin (decreasing the mold temperature)

5. Foam products have density differences: adjust the proportion of catalyst; the amount of filling is not enough (increase the amount of filling or increase the proportion of blowing agent)

6. The product has voids: the foaming speed is too fast; the filling amount is not enough.

7. The foam is too brittle: the isocyanate is too high; check the flow rate ratio of A and B; the mold temperature is too low; the moisture is too high. The filling amount is not enough (increase the filling amount or increase the proportion of blowing agent);

 

Spray foam

1. Dripping: the foaming speed is too slow

2. Poor atomization: insufficient air pressure; excessive foaming speed; unclean mixing room; unreasonable spray gun structure; low temperature.

3. Poor adhesion: the sprayed surface is not clean; the sprayed surface is too smooth; the foam is too brittle (the PAPI index is too high; whether the A and B materials are out of adjustment; whether the raw material moisture is too high); the temperature is too low.

4. The foam does not stick to the hands for a long time: increase the amount of gel catalyst.

5. Stiff foam and insufficient hair: the amount of foaming agent is too small; the temperature is too low.

6. The foam is soft and the strength is poor: increase the bulk density; reduce the amount of blowing agent; the polyol functionality is low or the hydroxyl value is low; the proportion of A and B materials is improper (the PAPI index is low).
